Google released their new search algorithm called Hummingbird, a name that they say comes from being precise and fast.  So what does this mean for your site?

The new Hummingbird update involves one key change: Instead of traditional keyword searches, it uses conversational searches to deliver search results that are more on point with what users are looking for.

In practice, this means that users' searches are becoming longer and more specific. Whereas prior search algorithms focused on keywords, the new algorithm will now focus on users' intent by answering questions that they are asking in their searches.

It's up to you to help Hummingbird tell Google that your page is the page users are looking for!

Top Tips:

  • Ensure you include keywords in your PPC campaigns that are long tailed, descriptive and relevant.
  • Review your past 3 months of search queries and include them into your PPC campaigns.
  • Ensure that the search queries are matched with relevant ANSWERS on your site.
